Last week was CRAZY huh? A post a day for all types of weather and styles? But now looking back at that, I’m feeling that lots of the looks leaned towards professional/going out. This got me thinking that honestly, of all of those, casual outfits are the hardest for me to put together. Bit of the bane of my existence really. The problem is casual outfits on me sometimes just feel too casual (I know that’s the point). So let’s dive out of the comfort zone (yay…let’s be honest does anyone actively like leaving their comfort zone?), for the next few days I’m going to hone in on casual spring.
Let’s kick this off with a bang! There is nothing more casual then the t-shirt. T-shirts are one of those clothing items I don’t have a lot of (2 Marilyn Monroe shirts, some French graphics, a Star Wars…). But this is definitely a beautiful shirt! When I first started trying some of the items at Abercrombie I wasn’t really confident because clothes for below 5 feet height is often…tricky. Especially while ordering online. But I was quite surprised. For reference, I got an extra extra small since it’s considered an oversize style. The material is quite soft and the obvious show stopper is the graphic. The colors are a faded pigment, but the art still has a great POP. Other than the graphic I think the big thing here is the structure, the shirt may be oversized but the material feels strong and not floppy (does that make kinda sense?) For certain shirts I’ve worn in the past, they just…crumple like a collapsed soufflé. I think if I want to create more wearable casual looks, the trick is to find items that have strong fabric structure.
Sandals!!! Oh my goodness I’m so excited about wearing sandals. And these are super comfortable. Sometimes I feel like slides won’t have as much grip but so far, I’ve done a bit of walking in these and so far they’ve been staying on good. And the tan is nice and dark (I prefer a darker tan to a light tan on shoes so damage won’t be as visible). My jeans (similar), are very comfortable and are just a simple high rise with the legs rolled up a little (they’re a wee bit long on me). They’ve got that nice faded look to them that comes with wear. Lastly, I have a really simple cross-body, I didn’t want to take away from the
t-shirt.
Well, that’s all for now, cheers to casual!
