First Time Trying a SKIMS Top

Burgundy long sleeve, black jeans, black boots/shoulder bag

I was recently asked about a certain brand of clothing, one who’s name always gives me mixed feelings…

Skims (dramatic organ music plays as if a villain just walked into the room). Now, none of these feelings are necessarily bad, just unsure. Two things I always hear about Skims that leaves me curious and hesitant:

1. It is way too expensive, and the quality isn’t great.

2. This is the best thing since sliced bread.

Don’t get me wrong but I’m not sure anything can beat bread, but that’s just me! So, what did I do? I waited patiently for there to be an item from Skims to be on sale, that I really wanted to try, and here we are!

Here is the long sleeve Skims long sleeve. First thoughts: it’s comfortable, the material is smooth, but not super soft. The color is berry and is definitely the deep burgundy I was going for. Form fitting, but not overly snug. I’m usually extra small in a top, but I went for a small based on reviews. I think sizing up is the secret here, if I had gone for an extra small, it would have fit but it would have been uncomfortable. I also think sizing up allows the stretch of the shirt to hold well, I’ll try to remember to update on how it washes.

Overall, it is a good shirt but personally wouldn’t pay full price. It’s a solid basic and I think it would be great as a top or extra layer, but just not within my budget at full price. Best thing since sliced bread? I don’t think so, but better than I thought it would be. Do I dare try some of the other items? Maybe, I’ll keep an eye out for sales.

Rest of my outfit: my dark wash jeans. Oof I love these too much, I’ll have to be careful with how much I wear/wash them. The usual suspect for my shoulder bag (similar), and my favorite black boot.
