Four Transition Pieces

Ballet flat, 3 hair clips in 3 different shades, white sleeveless mini dress, and cream cropped cardigan

Transition time! We’ve entered the weird time frame where we aren’t in summer technically. But we’re not in fall yet either. Given this, today I thought I’d look at pieces that are transitional for outfits. Let’s dive in!

Ballet flat. As someone who practiced ballet for a large portion of her young life, these are great but odd. Does that make sense? It’s like a blast from the past, I feel like I should be doing pirouettes down the street, haha! Anyway, these are much better quality than I thought they would be! Quite comfortable, nice color goes with a variety outfits…for the price I will be curious to see how they hold up. Any thoughts on Mary Jane red shoes? Not sure about those. I’m not against them, but I think they would be hard for me to style.

Cropped cardigan. I bought one a few months ago and I’m so excited to wear it! Long cardigans for me I’ve realized are not the best option (the wonders of being below 5 feet tall). They’re so nice but the more I’ve thought about it, I don’t wear them often. So here I am with a cream cropped cardigan! Personally, I prefer this color for this time of year, it has that summer feel but still leans toward fall. Soft but has some good weight to it to stay warm on colder days.

Hair claws. An odd inclusion, but a good one! It’s still hot, and there are many mornings where my hair is not listening. It doesn’t matter how much I shake it out, brush it, nothing matters, it still looks sucky. This is where these hair clips step in! My favorite are the ones that are called “jellyfish hair claws” (don’t quote me). I was pleasantly surprised at the price for these from Anthropologie, 3 for $24 is decent considering a single one of these is $14 at Target. And the colors are so vibrant.

Sleeveless dress. The heat here has been pretty uncomfortable, so a sleeveless dress is needed. But at the same time, we’ve had some of the craziest rain and thunderstorms for weeks. My solution: a midi/mini denim dress. Still good for summer weather, but should there be cool rains, it holds up and you’ll still be comfortable.

I’d say these are the top four I think of for transitional items from summer to fall. Until we meet again!
